The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) is a fully-fledged Public University in Kenya situated in Mombasa County with a student population of 19,930 and staff complement of 597. The University is seeking suitable qualified candidates to fill the below vacant positions:

INSTITUTE OF COMPUTING & INFORMATICS

Position: ASSISTANT TECHNOLOGIST  – (Permanent & Pensionable Terms)

Campus : MAIN CAMPUS

Grade: 5N

Division: Academic

Department: ICI

Vacant Post: 2

Reporting To: Chief Technologist

Professional Requirements

  1. Must possess Certificate of Secondary Education OR equivalent
  2. Must possess Diploma in Computer Science/Information Communication Technology (ICT) or its equivalent field.
  3. Must have a good Knowledge in PHP, HTML, JavaScript programming language.
  4. Knowledgeable in Laravel PHP framework.
  5. Knowledgeable in Lunix Web Server administration (especially how to host and configure a web application in Linux server).
  6. Must be familiar with Microsoft SQL server and MySQL database administration
  7. Must be familiar with version control systems (Git and GitHub for tracking modification in source code).
  8. Knowledgeable in API development and management.
  9. Ability to learn new languages and technologies.

 Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Work with team to design algorithms and flowcharts
  2. Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications
  3. Integrate software components and systems in a Linux Web Server
  4. Verify and deploy programs and systems in a Linux web server
  5. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software
  6. Gather and evaluate user feedback
  7. Recommend and execute improvement
  8. Create technical documentations for reference and reporting
  9. Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time

 REMUNERATION

The following Public University Salaries and House Allowance Structures shall apply:
