Polling Clerks/Counting Clerks – By-elections 2025

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Presiding Officer, the POLLING/COUNTING CLERK will carry out the following duties;

1. Assist in laying out of the polling station and counting room.
2. Demarcate and display posters at the polling station.
3. Control queues and guide voters to respective polling station.
4. Confirm that a voter has not voted by inspecting their fingers for indelible marks.
5. Identify voters before allowing them to vote.
6. Issue stamped ballot papers to voters duly identified in the register of voters.
7. Assist the Presiding Officer with the sorting of votes after voting as part of counting
8. Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the Presiding officer.

Requirements for Appointment

1. 1. Kenyan citizen of high integrity, and be non-partisan;
   2. KCSE Aggregate C- and above;
   3. Must be of good character and;
   4. Must be available for the entire period of the exercise; and
   5. Resident of the Constituency/County Assembly Ward in which they apply for.

Wages

Polling Clerks/Counting Clerks will be paid Kshs. 1,000 per day
