About the Role
The Finance Intern role supports the day-to-day operations of the finance department through hands-on involvement in financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and general accounting activities. The position preparations, and participating in ongoing process improvement initiatives. The role also provides exposure to financial systems, cross-functional collaboration, and a wide range of finance tasks within a dynamic organizational environment.
Responsibilities
a) Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support financial analysis and variance analysis to identify trends and anomalies.
- Help in the preparation of financial statements and presentations for internal stakeholders.
b) Budgeting and Forecasting
- Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering and analyzing data.
- Assist in the preparation and review of budgets for various departments and projects.
c) General Accounting
- Assist in day-to-day accounting tasks, including data entry, reconciliation, and record keeping.
- Help with the preparation and processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Support the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date financial records.
d) Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Help with the reconciliation of supplier and customer accounts.
- Support the follow-up on outstanding payments and resolve discrepancies.
e) Tax and Compliance
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns and compliance documentation.
- Support the finance team in ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and laws.
f) Audit Support
- Assist in preparing documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
- Support the implementation of audit recommendations and improvements.
g) Process Improvement
- Participate in identifying and implementing process improvements within the finance department.
- Assist in the development and documentation of finance and accounting procedures.
h) Ad Hoc Projects
- Support various ad hoc financial projects and initiatives as assigned by the finance manager or CFO.
- Assist in research and analysis for special projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Understanding of finance principles and accounting concepts.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Willingness to adapt to new challenges.
Relevant Experience:
- Minimum of 0-1 years of experience in finance or accounting roles.
