Dental Assistant

DENTAL ASSISTANT

Reporting to the DENTIST.

Purpose: To glorify God by providing clinical, technical, and administrative support in the dental clinic through assisting dental staff and students to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality oral health services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist and Community Oral Health Officers by preparing patients for treatment, taking X-rays, making dental impressions, and preparing required materials for various dental procedures
• Confidently exchange and handle dental instruments during procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and patient safety
• Support patients with special needs, such as those wearing braces, by positioning them correctly and providing reassurance during treatments
• Set up and arrange all instruments and equipment needed for each day’s scheduled treatments, ensuring that every patient receives safe and efficient care
• Uphold the highest standards of clinical quality and patient safety, adhering to the established protocols, ethical guidelines and evidence-based practices

Qualifications, Experience, Competencies and Attributes

• Diploma in dental assistance from a recognized institution
• Strong interpersonal skills and multi-cultural orientation
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to support dentists, oral health officers, and students
• Atleast two (2) years of relevant work experience
