NEMA seeks a results-driven Quantity Surveyor to join their vital team on a permanent and pensionable basis, offering an excellent career step for Kenyan professionals. This critical role involves assessing and costing bills of quantities for projects requiring EIA licensing and supervising essential site rehabilitation efforts. Based in the Nairobi headquarters, the successful candidate will leverage their expertise in Building Economics or Quantity Surveying to ensure financial accuracy and support NEMA’s mandate in environmental coordination across Kenya.


The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), established under the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA) Cap 387 is mandated to exercise general supervision and coordination over all matters relating to the environment in Kenya; and to be the Principal Instrument of Government in the implementation of all policies relating to the environment.

The Authority invites applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the following vacant positions.

Quantity surveyor

Job Responsibilities

  1. Costing bills of quantities for projects submitted for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) licensing to establish real cost
  2. Working closely with inspection and monitoring teams to develop bills of quantities for sites requiring rehabilitation
  3. Costing bills of quantities for NEMA projects and supervising contractors
  4. Checking drawings submitted to the Authority

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in either Quantity Surveying or Bachelor of Arts in Building Economics or any other relevant field from a recognized institution
  2. Proficiency in computer applications
  3. Relevant working experience will be an added advantage.
