IPOA is hiring an Inspections Officer who will conduct inspections of police facilities, support inspection policies, and follow up on recommendations. The Independent Policing Oversight Authority is established pursuant to Cap. 86 Laws of Kenya. Its primary mandate is to provide civilian oversight over the work of the National Police Service. The Authority seeks to recruit results-oriented Kenyan citizens with drive, vision and creativity to fill the following vacant positions:

Job Purpose

Responsible for carrying out inspections of police premises and detention facilities under the control of the National Police Service.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

An officer at this grade will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Supporting the implementation of policies, strategies, guidelines, plans, standards and procedures pertaining to Inspections, while ensuring compliance with relevant laws, rules and regulations;
  2. Conducting inspections of Police facilities and premises under the control of the Service to professionalize the service;
  3. Implementing inspection tools, concepts and controls to suit emerging trends in policing;
  4. Collecting and collating data for compiling inspection reports;
  5. Following up on recommendations arising from inspections of police facilities and premises;
  6. Conducting rapid inspections response activities in the Authority; and vii. Updating records in the division.

Knowledge, Experience and qualifications required

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have the following qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in any of the following disciplines: Law, Public Administration, Public Policy, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Sociology, Political Science, Social Sciences, Military, Security Studies or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and Proficiency in computer applications.
