Accountant

Blooming Africa is a Kenya-based horticultural nursery and exporter located in Gilgil, specializing in growing and exporting high-quality cut flowers for the global market.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Accountant to manage financial operations for a crop project. The role involves tracking project costs, ensuring financial accountability, and supporting decision-making through accurate reporting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare and manage project budgets for production.
2. Monitor and control costs related to planting, inputs, labor, and harvesting.
3. Maintain accurate financial records specific to the project.
4. Conduct cost analysis and profitability reporting per crop cycle.
5. Oversee procurement records and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
6. Prepare periodic financial reports. (weekly, monthly, seasonal)
7. Support audits and ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements.
8. Work closely with the General Manager to align financial planning with production targets.
9. Monitor inventory usage. (fertilizers, chemicals, bulbs, etc.)

About you

Experience, Qualification and desired competencies for the position:

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or related field.
• CPA (K) or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 year experience in accounting, preferably in agriculture or horticulture.
• Experience in cost accounting or project accounting is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
• High level of integrity and accountability
