STATE DEPARTMENT FOR AGRICULTURE

INSTRUCTOR III – SEVEN (7) POSTS – V/NO. 129/2026

Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 30,400 p.m – Ksh 38,880 p.m. (CSG 12)
House Allowance: Ksh 3,850 p.m. – Ksh 6,750 p.m.
Commuter Allowance: Ksh 4,000 p.m.
Leave allowance: As provided in the Civil Service
Annual Leave: 30 working days per financial year
Medical Cover: As provided by the government
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

Qualification Requirements

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Diploma in any of the following agricultural fields:- Agriculture, Agricultural Education and Extension, Horticulture, Agriculture and Home Economics, Dry Land Agriculture, Bio Technology, Animal Science/Animal Production, Farm Management, Environmental Engineering, Bio Systems Engineering, Soil and Water Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Structure and Process Engineering, Farm Power and Machinery Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, Sustainable Agriculture, Agri-Enterprise Development, Food Science and Technology, Agro Processing, Agricultural Extension or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will include: –

(i) preparing schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, training materials and aids;
(ii) training, instructing and undertaking training demonstrations;
(iii) conducting practicals in specific subject of specialization;
(iv) evaluating and assessing trainees;
(v) ensuring proper use and safe custody of training equipment and demonstration materials; and
(vi) maintaining trainee progress records; and conducting extra-curricular activities.
