WEIGHTS AND MEASURES OFFICER II – TWENTY-FOUR (24) POSTS – V/NO. 115/2026
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 36,200 p.m – Ksh 47,900 p.m. (CSG 11)
House Allowance: Ksh 5,800 p.m. – Ksh 10,000 p.m.
Commuter Allowance: Ksh 4,000 p.m.
Leave allowance: As provided in the Civil Service
Annual Leave: 30 working days per financial year
Medical Cover: As provided by the government
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Qualification Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Physics, Mathematics, Legal Metrology, Information Communication Technology, or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will include: –
(i) testing and stamping mechanical and electronic weighing equipment;
(ii) collecting data on verified equipment at traders’ premises, stamping stations and verification office;
(iii) sampling pre-packaged goods for quantitative analysis;
(iv) preparing testing equipment for inspection and investigation purposes;
(v) and preparing weighing and measuring equipment during trade fairs and exhibitions;
(vi) giving evidence in court on cases arising from infringement of the Weights and Measures Act (Cap 513) and Trade Descriptions Act (Cap 505).
