Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre (KAGRC) is hiring a Livestock Attendant to assist with daily animal care. This role involves supporting animal preparation for procedures, assisting with treatments, and following quarantine protocols. If you have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or equivalent and basic computer skills, and enjoy working with animals, we encourage you to apply.


The Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre (KAGRC) is a state corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development mandated to produce, preserve, conserve and distribute animal genetic materials.

KAGRC seeks to recruit qualified persons to fill the following positions.

LIVESTOCK ATTENDANT KAGRC GRADE 10 (8)

Ref: KAGRC 10/5/2026(6)

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail assisting in:

  1. Feeding animals;
  2. Taking animals temperature on daily basis and recording of the same;
  3. Cleaning of animals pens and paddocks;
  4. Preparing and presenting animals before germplasm collection;
  5. Reporting any sick animal;
  6. Taking part in animal dipping and vector control activities;
  7. Preparing and presenting animals for vaccination and treatment, parading them when there are visitors;
  8. Ensuring quarantine measures are adhered to; and
  9. Assisting the Veterinary surgeons during postmortems.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

  1. KCSE D + (Plus) or its Equivalent; and
  2. Proficiency in Computer Applications

Skills and competencies

  1. Hardworking;
  2. Ability to work as a team;
  3. Communication skills; and
  4. Background in care of livestock
