This role is designed for driven, high-performing individuals ready to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment. The Accounts and Admin Assistant Intern will undertake a competitive three-month training program focused on building the technical and professional capabilities required to effectively support the organization’s finance and administrative functions. During this period, the intern will gain hands-on experience in accounting, financial operations, and office administration, while working within a dynamic, mission-driven organization. The program includes mentorship from high-performing professionals and, where applicable, exposure to international operations. This is a performance-based opportunity. Interns who demonstrate exceptional capability, initiative, and consistency over the three-month period will be considered for a full-time position within the organization.

Responsibilities

  1. Accounts Payables Support: Assist in preparing payments by verifying invoices and supporting documentation for expenses.
  2. Records Management: Maintain organized and accurate financial records (both digital and physical) to ensure easy retrieval.
  3. Treasury Support: Provide support in daily, weekly, and monthly treasury activities, including tracking basic financial movements.
  4. Accounts Receivables Support: Assist in monitoring billing and follow up with the relevant teams to support timely collections.
  5. Financial Systems: Help maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in accounting systems.
  6. Cash Tracking: Support the tracking of cash movements for program funding and assist in basic reconciliations under supervision.
  7. Compliance Support: Assist in ensuring proper documentation and timely filing of statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, NSSF, VAT, etc.) under guidance.
  8. Reporting: Support preparation of monthly financial reports and summaries.
  9. Audit Support: Assist in organizing documents and information required for audits.
  10. Cross-functional Support: Work closely with the business development team to provide basic financial and administrative support.
  11. Administrative & HR Support: Assist with general administrative duties including records management, and leave tracking.
  12. General Support: Perform any other duties assigned in support of the organization’s operations and learning objectives.
  13. Accounts Payables: Preparing payments with correct supporting invoices and documents, for all expenses

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
  2. Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  3. Progress in professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with accounting systems is a plus
  5. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
