Internship - Refrigeration Technician at Java House Africa

Java House Africa are looking for talented and motivated professionals to join our team as a REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN INTERN in Nairobi.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in Carrying out preventive and reactive maintenance of refrigeration equipment and and electrical equipment at Foodscape, as indicated in the “Core Competencies” section below, in order to ensure such equipment is functional and safe for use by operators when required.
• Assist in Carrying out maintenance-related activities that affect food safety in assigned locations in order to eliminate food safety hazards.
• Record activities carried out in required formats for future reference.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Performs all relevant tasks in line with the trained standard operating procedures in order to minimize risk of harm to self, others or damage to property
• Supports the continuous improvement culture by highlighting areas of waste that when successfully addressed can lead to financial savings for the business
• Completes all PPM’s assigned on time
• Completes all repair jobs assigned  in a timely and professional manner
• Report hazard/ dangerous work place practices or situation to the manager

Qualifications

• Diploma/ Certificate in Refrigeration from a recognized institution of tertiary education.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to work in night shifts for up to 20% of time on duty

CORE COMPETENCIES:

• Proficient in trouble-shooting, repair and servicing refrigeration installations, single- and three-phase wiring, lighting and socket circuits
• Proficient in trouble-shooting, repair and servicing of equipment
• Basic plumbing, masonry and carpentry skills
• Good spoken English and Kiswahili language skills
• Good written and spoken technical communication skills
