Uzima Chicken are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Costing Assistant who will be responsible for inventory accounting, cost control, and financial reporting activities for the Feedmill, Hatchery and Breeder Farm operations.

Job Summary
Position: Costing Assistant
Reports to: Senior Accountant
Location: Korowe, Kisumu Kenya
The role will ensure accurate recording, reconciliation, valuation, and reporting of inventory and production costs while supporting operational teams with timely cost analysis and inventory management information. The position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of stock records, monitoring cost drivers, and supporting business decision-making through accurate costing and inventory reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all feed raw materials, consumables, work-in-progress, and finished feed.
- Maintain accurate accounting records for breeder farm & Hatchery inventory, including feed, biological assets, consumables, medicines, and other farm inputs.
- Monitor and reconcile inventory movements between physical stock, production records, and the ERP/accounting system.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reconciliations and investigate any variances.
- Calculate and maintain accurate feed production costs, including raw material, labor, utility, and overhead allocations.
- Support periodic stock counts and ensure timely resolution of inventory discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing inventory and costing documentation through proper filing of inventory and costing records.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA (Part II or above) or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.
- 1-3 years' relevant experience in accounting, costing, inventory management, or finance.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Experience in manufacturing, agribusiness, poultry, feed production, or FMCG environments will be an added advantage.
