Kind Heart Organization Kenya is a registered non-profit dedicated to uplifting vulnerable communities through compassion-driven initiatives. We focus on improving education, healthcare, and social welfare while promoting empowerment and sustainable development.

Kind Heart Organization Kenya is implementing the project "Empowering Rural Communities through Sustainable Chicken Rearing in Rachuonyo South, Homa Bay County, Kenya." The project works directly with three community groups to establish sustainable poultry enterprises, strengthen practical poultry farming capacities, improve household income and nutrition, and enhance market linkages and group financial sustainability. Kind Heart Organization Kenya seeks to recruit a competent and community-oriented Field Officer to support day-to-day field implementation, beneficiary coordination, monitoring, and documentation of project activities.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Coordination

  • Coordinate day-to-day project activities with the three participating beneficiary groups.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor poultry houses, flock health, feeding practices, biosecurity, and production performance.
  • Support coordination of beneficiary training, veterinary services, input distribution, and market linkage activities.
  • Collect accurate project monitoring data using KoboToolbox and project-issued digital data collection devices.
  • Maintain updated records on poultry survival, mortality, egg production, sales, household consumption, income, and group savings.
  • Document project activities through field reports, photographs, attendance records, and other verifiable evidence.
  • Support beneficiaries in applying recommended poultry management, vaccination, hygiene, and recordkeeping practices.
  • Identify field-level challenges and promptly report implementation risks to the Project Manager.
  • Support stakeholder coordination with local leaders, technical personnel, veterinary service providers, and other relevant actors.
  • Prepare and submit timely weekly and monthly field progress reports.
  • Perform other project-related duties assigned by the Project Manager.
  • Monitor group savings, reinvestment mechanisms, and progress towards project sustainability indicators.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Educational and Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Community Development, Project Management, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Practical knowledge or experience in poultry farming, livestock production, or rural livelihood projects is highly desirable.
  • Experience in community mobilisation, field monitoring, or development project implementation.
  • Good data collection, documentation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to use smartphones, tablets, Microsoft Office applications, and digital data collection platforms. Experience with Kobo Toolbox is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and regularly travel within Rachuonyo South Sub-County.
  • Knowledge of the local context and local language is an added advantage.
