The Siaya National Polytechnic (TSNP) invites applications from suitably qualified and individuals with excellent credentials to fill a vacant position of a Welder on the terms and conditions listed below: -

Technician (Welder) - Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Department

Terms of service: One (1) year contract renewable subject to satisfactory performance

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this position, a candidate must have: -

1. Craft Certificate in Welding and Fabrication or Welding and Fabrication Level 5.
2. A candidate in possession of National Trade Test I certificate in any of the following areas of specialization will have an added advantage: Carpentry and Joinery, Turning and Fitting, Plumbing, Welding and Fabricating or Painting from National Industrial Training Authority or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
3. One who is reliable and of high integrity.
4. Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assembling and maintaining various components of welding equipment.
2. Performing regular maintenance on equipment and machines within the Institution.
3. Responding to welding emergencies, repairs and welding issues.
4. Providing end users with cost estimates and quotes for repairs and maintenance.
5. Interpreting blueprints and welding specifications.
6. Ensuring compliance with local welding and safety regulations.
7. Cutting, assembling, and welding of parts for proper operation.
8. Preparing trainee sessions and materials for practicals.
9. Maintaining accurate records of work performed.
