Dental Cardiovascular Technician at African Labour Solutions

African Labour Solutions' client, a leading dental healthcare provider with multiple clinics across Kenya, is seeking to recruit a skilled and experienced Dental Cardiovascular Technician to support its Dental/Oral Surgery Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting cardiac assessments, monitoring high-risk patients with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions, and supporting patient safety before, during, and after complex dental and oral surgery procedures.

Location: Nairobi
Gross Salary: Ksh. 40,000 - 60,000

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct ECG/EKG testing, vital sign monitoring, and cardiac assessments for patients undergoing dental and oral surgery procedures.
  • Monitor high-risk patients with pre-existing cardiac conditions before, during, and after procedures.
  • Review patient medical histories and assess cardiac risks in relation to planned local anaesthesia or sedation procedures.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac status, comfort, and overall condition during procedures.
  • Maintain and ensure readiness of emergency cardiac equipment and code carts within the dental surgery unit.
  • Respond promptly to cardiac or other medical complications and support emergency interventions.
  • Work closely with oral surgeons, dentists, anaesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, obtaining relevant medical history, and positioning them appropriately.
  • Assist dentists and oral surgeons during examinations and procedures where required.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, ECG results, monitoring reports, and other relevant clinical documentation.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control, health and safety, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Keep abreast of developments in cardiovascular technology, diagnostic procedures, and clinical best practices.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Cardiac Physiology, or a related field.
  • Relevant registration/licensing/certification with the appropriate medical regulatory body.
  • Valid Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Experience in an outpatient surgery, dental surgery, theatre, or acute patient monitoring environment is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, cardiac monitoring, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Proficiency in operating ECG and other cardiovascular diagnostic and monitoring equipment.
  • Good understanding of patient safety and emergency response procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong patient-centred approach.
  • Ability to work effectively with dentists, oral surgeons, anaesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
