PETROLEUM OFFICER, (GEOLOGIST) II – FOUR (4) POSTS - V/NO. 174/2026
Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: - Petroleum Geo-Science, Geology, Petroleum Geology, Petroleum Exploration & Production or Earth Science from a university recognized in Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
This is an entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will include:
(i) collecting and compiling petroleum related geological data;
(ii) assisting in execution of planned geological field surveys for oil and gas projects;
(iii) participating in analysis of mapped sedimentary basins;
(iv) participating in the preparation of petroleum related reports; and
(v) compiling oil and gas information for relevant stakeholders.
PETROLEUM OFFICER, (GEOPHYSICIST) II – FOUR (4) POSTS - V/No. 175/2026
Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: - Geophysics, Petroleum Geophysics, Petroleum Geo-Science, Applied Geophysics, Geology, Physics, Exploration Geophysics, Earth Science or Physics and Mathematics from a university recognized in Kenya.

(i) collecting and compiling petroleum related geophysical data;

(iv) participating in the preparation of petroleum related reports; and

Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Petroleum Geochemistry, Petroleum Geo-Science, Petroleum Chemistry, Geology, Chemistry, Petroleum Exploration and Production, Analytical Chemistry, Earth Science, Industrial Chemistry, Exploration Geo-Chemistry or Chemistry and Mathematics from a university recognized in Kenya.

PETROLEUM OFFICER, (ENGINEER) II – FOUR (4) POSTS - V/NO. 177/2026
Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Engineering, Petroleum Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering or Technology (Chemical Engineering) from a university recognized in Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
This is an entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will include:
(i) collecting and recording petroleum engineering data on drilling, production, and reservoir performance;
(ii) participating in petroleum drilling and related engineering work programs for designated projects;
(iii) participating in petroleum resource evaluation;
(iv) participating in measurement and calibration of down hole parameters including temperature flow rate and pressure of oil and gas; and
(v) monitoring installation, operation, and maintenance of petroleum engineering equipment and facilities
Contract Details
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 45,210 - Ksh 61,020 p.m. (CSG 10)
House Allowance: Ksh 16,500 p.m
Commuter Allowance: Ksh 5,000 p.m.
Leave Allowance: As provided in the Civil Service
Annual Leave: As existing in the Civil Service
Medical Cover: As provided by the Government
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
