PSC invites applications for Gemstone Cutters/Facetors in the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, State Department for Mining.
Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
(i) a Diploma in Gemstone Cutting, Lapidary, Gemology, Mineral Processing or Jewellery Technology from a recognized institution;
(ii) knowledge of gemstone identification, grading, and valuation techniques;
(iii) ability to operate and maintain lapidary equipment; and
(iv) Good hand–eye coordination, attention to detail, and manual dexterity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Will include: -
(i) examining rough gemstones and determine the best cutting plan;
(ii) marking, sawing, splitting, and pre-forming gemstones for faceting;
(iii) cutting and facet gemstones to specified angles and proportions;
(iv) polishing gemstones to achieve maximum brilliance and quality
Contract Details
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 32,410- Ksh 42,280 p.m. (CSG 12)
House Allowance: Ksh 3850- Ksh 6750 p.m
Commuter Allowance: Ksh 4,000 p.m.
Leave Allowance: As provided in the Civil Service
Annual Leave: 30 working days
Medical Cover: As provided by the Government
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
