Add CampusBiz as your preferred source for jobs on Google Ishtar are seeking OUTREACH WORKERS to assist in engaging young MSM and transgender persons (18 years and above), bi-men, male sex workers, transgender women, gay men, and MSM+ in Nairobi and its environs to access the above services at the Wellness Centre.
Ishtar exclusively runs the Ishtar Wellness Centre, which provides the following services mainly targeting men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women in Nairobi:
- HIV counseling and testing
- STI screening and treatment
- Referrals to MSM-friendly care centers
- PrEP
- Distribution of lubricants and condoms to MSM
- Safe sex workshops
- Open forum discussions eg Inreaches and Training
- Peer education and counseling
- Outdoor activities eg outreach
- Behavioral and structural interventions
- Care and treatment
Essential Functions
- Supervise and connect with peer educators in enrolling and maintaining the MSMTG cohort in the program.
- Conduct community outreaches in areas and locations where MSMs and TGs congregate.
- Co-facilitate curriculum-based and open support group discussions on various health-related topics for MSMs and TGs.
- Provide presentations to the target community on health-related, rights, and MSM/TG topics.
- Perform administrative duties, including data entry.
- Be in charge of the distribution of condoms and lubricants and provide safe sex information.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Certificate or Diploma
- Experience in facilitating MSM and Transgender communities on HIV
- Prevention, Care, and Treatment
- Experience working with young MSM and the LGBTQ+ community
- Strong presentation and writing skills
- Intermediate-level knowledge of HIV/AIDS and SRHR,
- Sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and gender orientation differences Proficiency in reading and writing English
- Experience in HIV testing and counseling, and data entry (an added advantage) to apply.
- Basic computer and data management skills
- Excellent social and interpersonal skills MUST have been a Peer Education in a program.
