Job Summary:
The Communications Intern will support HopeCore's communications work in documenting and sharing stories of impact, creating social media content, and assisting in the implementation of HopeCore's communication strategy. This internship position, offered for a 6-month period, is ideal for a creative, self-motivated individual passionate about storytelling, community development, and digital media.
Since 2000, HopeCore has addressed critical healthcare gaps and poverty on the slopes of Mt. Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
- Create content for HopeCore's social media platforms, website, and newsletters.
- Document field activities through photography, videography, and written stories.
- Develop promotional materials: brochures, flyers, and other branded communication materials.
- Draft blog posts and success stories highlighting HopeCore's programs and impact.
- Contribute creative ideas to enhance HopeCore's visibility and brand.
- Support internal communications.
- Maintain organized digital archives of photos, videos, and publications.
Qualifications
- A Degree/Diploma in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the same field.
Other Competencies
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Basic photography and videography skills; familiarity with editing software is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in social media and digital communication tools.
- Attention to detail, creativity, and ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate high levels of integrity.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
