Intern – Research Assistants

REPORTING TO: RESEARCH MANAGER

MAIN FUNCTION

A key part of this role is to ensure that all aspects of the work conducted meets or exceeds the quality levels set. This should result in the client expectations being met and thus high scores in the Customer Satisfaction Measurement system.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

1. ASSISTING IN RESEARCH PROJECTS

Reporting to a specific research manager you will be required to:

• attend client briefs and draft proposals
• draft questionnaires and sample frameworks
• monitor and control fieldwork quality
• accompany/back check interviews
• check quotas
• check data collection and completed questionnaire quality
• structure and check coding
• conduct screening, recruitment and in-depth interviews
• set-up, assist or moderate focus groups
• transcribe tapes and prepare grids
• understand basic operation of QPS and checking of tabulations
• basic analysis and charting
• draft reports and presentations

2. CLIENT SERVICE

The company sells market research expertise and as such you will be required to acquire and maintain an in-depth knowledge of market research techniques and practices. You will be expected to demonstrate this knowledge in dealing with clients.

3. PROJECT QUALITY

You will be required to understand and enforce the company’s operating procedures to ensure that the work produced is of the required standard. This involves (but is not limited to):

DATA COLLECTION

• Ensuring briefing is adequate and the project is clearly understood
• Checking data collection processes and procedures
• Back-checking and accompanying a selection of interviews on each project
• Checking sample compliance on a day to day basis
• Getting daily reports from field department and communicating any issues
• Learning how to preparing field reports.

DATA ENTRY

• Checking receipt and accuracy of questionnaires given to Data processing manager.
• Structuring and agreeing code lists with assigned team members.
• Understand basic operation of QPS and checking of tabulations
• Briefing DP on required cross tabulations and other data requirements
• Checking data for quality.

RESEARCH

• Assist in scheduling meetings and keeping track of key project milestones
• Ensuring are deadlines met
• Checking accuracy of documents.
• Follow-up on operational issues raised by clients

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Graduates with a degree in Applied Statistics, Economics, Project Management, Political Science, Biostatistics, Population studies or any relevant social science.
2. Work experience not necessary but prior internship will be an added advantage.
3. Training in Data analysis techniques with Excel, R, SPSS, STATA, python etc. is an added advantage.
