About Us
The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a state corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013 as the national body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.
Research Assistants – Kisumu
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement research protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Recruit participants at schools and obtain informed consent from adolescents and caregivers.
- Conduct follow-ups with participants via phone or in person.
- Perform participant screening, quantitative interviews (using REDCap), and in-depth interviews.
- Collect, abstract, and manage data (e.g., report cards, anthropometric measurements).
- Ensure accurate data entry in collaboration with the Data Manager and Study Coordinator.
- Maintain detailed records of research activities.
Vacancy Requirements:
Mandatory
- Diploma in Social Sciences, Public Health, Counseling, Community Development, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and data entry. Experience with REDCap is essential.
- Experience in motorcycle riding and maintenance.
- Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork capabilities.
- Experience working with adolescents.
- Familiarity with the local community and geography.

- Knowledge of nutrition and agriculture is an advantage.
