Alupe University is one of the new Universities in Kenya established vide the Alupe University Charter, 2022. The University aims to be a Bastion of Knowledge in Science, Education, Business Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, Human Resource Development, Tourism and Hospitality. Pursuant to Part III of the Alupe University Charter and Part XV of the Alupe University Statutes, the University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions: –
ACADEMIC DIVISION
Technologist – Computer Science (Grade 7) AC/5/05/2025
Minimum Qualification and Experience
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –
(i) Holder of a BSc in Computer Science from accredited and recognized institution;
(ii) Certification in A+, N+, Cisco, Oracle, Sun-microsystems etc shall be an added advantage;
(iii) Proven experience of at least two years as a Computer Laboratory Technologist or a similar role;
(iv) Be a registered member of the professional body (where applicable);
(v) Should have a practicing certificate (where applicable);
(vi) Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities at this level entails: –
i. Sets-up and demonstrate laboratory experiments and activities in the areas of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, computer networks, database systems, Websystems and Software development;
ii. Guide and supervise students laboratory experiments and activities;
iii. Install, evaluate, maintain and configure operating systems and application software in the laboratory environment for experiments and laboratory activities;
iv. Assists faculty, staff and students with the general and specific uses of a variety of personal computers; demonstrates personal computer procedures;
v. Demonstrates and provides instruction to students in proper use of computer equipment; tutors students in order to assist them in their understanding and use of multiple software programs;
vi. Assist students in debugging and troubleshooting programming, networking, database and web related challenges in the laboratory exercises;
vii. Maintain an inventory for computing laboratory resources;
viii. Works with faculty to ensure a positive learning environment in the lab;
ix. Maintain expenditure records and provide data for budget estimates;
x. Communicates and enforces computer laboratory policies to all laboratory users; and
xi. Create and maintain the computer laboratory usage schedule.
xii. Requisition of teaching lab materials as needed for smooth departmental operations; and
xiii. Provide technical specifications, reports, and cost analyses in the lab to aid management decisions;
Technologist – Information Technology (Grade 7) AC/5/05/2025
Minimum Qualification and Experience
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –
(i) Holder of a BSc in Information Technology Science from a recognized and accredited institution;
(ii) Certification in A+, N+, Cisco, Oracle, Sun-microsystems etc shall be an added advantage;
(iii) Proven experience of at least two years as a Computer Laboratory Technologist or a similar role;
(iv) Be a registered member of the professional body (where applicable);
(v) Should have a practicing certificate (where applicable);
(vi) Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities at this level entails: –

iv. Assists faculty, staff and students with the general and specific uses of a variety of personal computers; demonstrates personal computer procedures;

Technologist – Physics (Grade 7) AC/7/05/2025
Minimum Qualification and Experience
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –
i. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Science with specialization in Physics;
ii. Proven experience of at least two years on Physcis Laboratory equipment;
iii. Must have the knowledge of setting up a Laboratory and equipment trouble- shooting, installation and calibration;
iv. Be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable);
v. Proficiency in computer applications; and
vi. Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities at this level entails: –
i. Perform laboratory experiments in compliance with established procedures.
ii. Maintain laboratory equipment and tools in clean, safe and good condition.
iii. Identify, troubleshoot equipment issues and notify maintenance personnel on any equipment repairs and malfunctions.
iv. Delivering requests for physics lab apparatus and equipment and test procured equipment to ascertain their working condition
v. Work with other technicians to complete laboratory assignments within stipulated timelines.
vi. Routine stock taking of laboratory equipment and apparatus
vii. Develop new experimental procedures in liaison with the supervisor and reports of test results.
viii. Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe and secure working environment for laboratory staff and stakeholders;
ix. Requisition of teaching lab materials as needed for smooth departmental operations; and
x. Provide technical specifications, reports, and cost analyses in the lab to aid management decisions;
Technologist – Bio/Chem (Grade 7) AC/8/05/2025
Minimum Qualification and Experience
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –
i. Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry or BSc Chem/Bio;
ii. Proven experience of at least one year as a Laboratory Technologist or a similar role in the institution of higher learning;
iii. Proficiency in computer applications; and
(vii) Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities at this level entails: –
i. Perform laboratory experiments in compliance with established procedures. and Running trials of experiments prior to classes and then demonstrating techniques for experiments;
ii. Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials for experiments and testing and calibrate and operate laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results;
iii. Maintain laboratory records, logs, and documentation, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements;
iv. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and problems related to laboratory equipment, procedures, and processes;
v. Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe and secure working environment for laboratory staff and stakeholders;
vi. Provide technical support and assistance to laboratory staff, students, and other stakeholders as needed;
vii. Contribute to the maintenance and cleanliness of the laboratory facilities and workspaces;
xi. Generate routine reports on laboratory experiments and cost analyses to aid management decisions;
viii. Order and stock laboratory supplies and instruments;
ix. Write experimental procedures and develop reports of test results;
Technologist – Media (Grade 7) AC/26/05/2025
Minimum Qualification and Experience
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –
i. Bachelor’s degree in Media Technology, Electronic/Broadcast Media, Film & TV Production, Sound Engineering or any other related from accredited and recognized University;
ii. At least two (2) year working experience working in media sector or multimedia production environment;
iii. Proficiency in audio-visual equipment setup, maintenance, camera operations, lighting, and digital media editing and post-production processes.
iv. Be a registered member of the professional body (where applicable);
v. Proficiency in computer applications; and
vi. Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities at this level entails: –
i. Set up and maintain media lab equipment;
ii. Assist students and staff in the use of media production and equipment and software during practical sessions;
iii. Ensure all media equipment and distribution systems are fully operational and ready for live broadcasts, studio recordings, field productions and virtual events;
iv. Preparing the budget for laboratory requirements;
v. Ensure regular maintenance and inventory management of lab equipment and software licenses;
vi. Enforce safety and usage within the media lab;
vii. Participating in departmental research activities;
viii. Supervising and training interns engaged in media laboratory;
ix. Provide technical specifications, reports, and cost analyses in the lab to aid management decisions; and
x. Engage in innovation and income-generating initiatives.
Media Laboratory (Studio) (Grade 7) AC/32/05/2025
Minimum Qualification and Experience
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –
