PhD Studentship

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a state corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013 as the national body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.

PhD Studentship – KEMRI CGHR Kisumu

Key responsibilities

1. The PhD candidate will conduct and coordinate data collection for the economic evaluation in Kenya, Uganda, and Malawi;
2. Perform costing analyses and economic modeling to assess financial sustainability;
3. Develop and apply an economic model for cost-effectiveness comparison between mAbs DP;
4. Publish at least three peer-reviewed scientific papers as part of the PhD requirements; and engage with project stakeholders, including policymakers, funders, and implementing partners.

Vacancy Requirements:

•  Kenyan citizenship is required
• A Master’s degree in health economics or a related field
• Prior experience in health economic evaluations, costing studies, or applied economic modeling
• Knowledge of health systems in low- and middle-income countries is an advantage.
• Experience with stakeholder engagement and fieldwork coordination
• Strong commitment to research and academia, demonstrated through a personal statement
• Must be available for full-time engagement in the project
