Murang’a County Government Internship Program is a government youth programme whose main objective is to offer college graduates the opportunity to gain hands on experience and build skills in order to enhance their chances for employment, networking and entrepreneurship.

TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT

Job type: Full Time
Qualification:- Diploma/Degree (as indicated)
Experience: – None
Location: Murang’a County
Job Field: ECDE CAREGIVER INTERNS– (FOURTY FIVE) 45 POSTS
Stipend: The Interns will be paid a stipend at a rate determined by the County Government.
Timeline: Twelve (12) months Non-renewable

Minimum Requirements

Requirements for Appointment an internship position a candidate must:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum grade D+ (Plus) or KCE Division IV at ‘O’ Level:
  • Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education offered by KNEC/Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent;
  • Be conversant with the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and other emerging learning trends;
  • Registered by the Teachers Service Commission;
  • Certificate in Computer Applications; and
  • Certificate of Good Conduct from the National Police Service;

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, an applicant must

  • Be a Kenyan citizen not over the age of 35 years
  • Be an unemployed graduate from a recognized training institution who has completed a Certificate Diploma or degree course in the last 24 months or less, in the relevant field.
  • Not have benefited from a similar internship program or been exposed to work experience related to their area of study since graduating.
  • Not have exited from formal employment.
  • ALL Applications for internship should be supported by the applicant’s university/college or related institution’s records/certificates/transcripts.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Class teaching.
  2. Organizing and facilitating play/learning activities for the learners.
  3. Caring and nurturing spiritual, moral, social, mental, physical, aesthetic and emotional growth of the learners (holistic development).
  4. Managing ECDE classes and keeping professional and administrative records (schemes of work, lesson plans, daily programme of activities, attendance registers etc.) and ensuring learners’ safety and security.
  5. Preparing and developing play/learning materials.

In addition to the above requirements, an ECDE Teacher must be in compliance with the ECD Service Guidelines and possess the following:

  • Relate well with children, parents and members of the society.
