About the Program

The Mastercard Foundation Associates Program is a strategic initiative designed to bridge the gap between education and meaningful employment. By connecting talented young Africans with 12-month internships, the program provides hands-on work experience, leadership development, and professional networking opportunities.

In Kenya, the program focuses on fostering a new generation of transformative leaders by embedding them within the Foundationโ€™s partner organizations and external high-impact entities.

What You Will Gain

Eligibility Criteria

We are looking for young, vibrant Kenyans who meet the following requirements:

  • Age: Between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Experience: Recent graduates with 0โ€“2 years of professional work experience.
  • Affiliation: Open to all qualified youth, with a priority focus on:
    • Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Alumni.
    • Alumni of other Mastercard Foundation programs.
  • Commitment to Inclusion: We strongly encourage applications from young women, persons with disabilities, and refugees or internally displaced persons (IDPs) currently residing in Kenya.

Program Journey

  • Recruitment & Selection: Rigorous vetting through our regional recruitment partners.
  • Placement: Matching selected Associates with suitable internship roles in Kenya.
  • Growth & Transition: Ongoing training followed by support in finding permanent “dignified and fulfilling” work.
