Kenya's National Council for Children's Services is hiring a junior/entry-level Driver. You will operate authorized vehicles, maintain accurate work tickets, and ensure vehicles are clean and mechanically sound. This role involves passenger safety, adherence to traffic laws, and reporting incidents promptly. The National Council for Children's Services (NCCS) is established under section 41 of the Children Act, 2022 Cap 141, mandated to regulate, coordinate and oversight children's services in Kenya and advise the Government on all matters thereof.

The Council seeks to recruit qualified and competent staff to fill the following vacant positions.

POSITION: DRIVER III

POST: ONE (1)

TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE

This is the entry level and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level works under the supervision of a senior officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities entail: -

  1. Driving vehicles as authorized;
  2. Keeping up to date work tickets for vehicles;
  3. Cleaning of the assigned motor vehicle;
  4. Preparing and submitting regular reports on motor vehicle assigned;
  5. Maintaining a proper mechanical working condition of the vehicle;
  6. Ensuring security and safety of passengers and vehicle on and off the road;
  7. Ensuring possession of all the requisite documents for any specific journey;
  8. Adherence to or observations of traffic laws;
  9. Reporting any incidents to police and/or the office immediately they occur; and
  10. undertake any other functions as may be lawfully assigned.

Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade, the candidate must have:

  1. At least two (2) years proven driving experience;
  2. At least a mean grade D (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  3. Valid driving license free from any current endorsements(s) for classes of the vehicles the driver is required to drive;
  4. Passed the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade I from the Ministry of Roads and Public Works;
  5. Valid Certificate of Good Conduct;
  6. First Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. Johns Ambulance or any other recognized institution; and
  7. Proficiency in computer applications.
