Jubilee Asset Management Limited currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Platform Engineering Intern. The role holder will report to the Team Leader – Platform Engineering and will be based at our Head Office in Nairobi.

Role Purpose:
The Platform Engineering Intern will support the Platform Engineering team in maintaining reliable, secure, and scalable digital systems while gaining hands-on experience in platform operations, cloud infrastructure, observability, automation, and DevSecOps practices.
Working under the guidance of the Team Leader Platform Engineering, the intern will contribute to engineering initiatives across development, testing, and supervised operational environments while building the foundational skills required for growth into a Platform Engineer role.
Main Responsibilities
1. Operational
System Reliability & Performance
- Assist in monitoring platform dashboards and identifying service anomalies under supervision.
- Support system health checks, deployment validations, and platform readiness activities.
- Help document operational procedures, system checks, and support workflows.
- Learn core reliability concepts including availability, latency, error monitoring, and capacity awareness.
Integrations & Platform Services
- Assist in validating API integrations between internal systems and external partner systems in development and testing environments.
- Support monitoring of integration workflows and escalate failures or abnormal behaviour.
- Help document integration test results and troubleshooting observations.
Observability & Monitoring
- Support monitoring activities using platform observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Sentry.
- Assist in reviewing logs, alerts, dashboards, and service metrics.
- Learn platform reliability concepts including service indicators and alerting fundamentals.
- Contribute to weekly platform health and observability reporting.
Automation & Engineering Efficiency
- Write basic automation scripts using Python or Bash under supervision.
- Assist in automating repetitive operational tasks to reduce manual effort.
- Support CI/CD validation activities and deployment pipeline checks.
- Gain practical exposure to containerisation using Docker.
Incident Learning & Support
- Observe incident response processes and platform troubleshooting sessions.
- Assist in documenting incident timelines, findings, and lessons learned.
- Support tracking of action items arising from root cause analysis discussions.
2. Learning & Technical Development
- Complete a structured onboarding program covering platform architecture, engineering standards, operational processes, and security practices.
- Build foundational knowledge in Linux systems, cloud infrastructure, containerisation, automation, and CI/CD concepts.
- Participate in technical learning sessions, platform reviews, and internal knowledge-sharing forums.
- Complete assigned technical labs, engineering exercises, and learning milestones within agreed timelines.
- Develop an understanding of DevOps, SRE, and platform engineering principles.
3. Documentation & Engineering Standards
- Create and maintain platform documentation, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles.
- Ensure assigned technical work is properly documented and traceable.
- Support continuous improvement of operational standards and engineering documentation
- Collaborate with colleagues across teams to deliver excellent client service.
- Uphold Jubilee’s values by fostering a client-centric culture.
- Support knowledge-sharing and contribute to continuous improvement in onboarding practices.
4. Collaboration, Culture & Professional Growth
- Participate in daily engineering stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and technical discussions.
- Support at least one cross-functional engineering initiative during the internship period.
- Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, innovation, and professionalism in all assigned tasks.
- Seek continuous feedback and apply it toward technical and professional development.
- Support communication of assigned technical updates across relevant teams.
5. Risk Management & Corporate Governance
- Follow secure-by-design principles in assigned work activities.
- Adhere to cybersecurity standards, engineering policies, and change management procedures.
- Ensure proper handling of credentials, documentation, and platform access.
- Maintain accurate records of assigned technical changes and activities
Academic Background & Relevant Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or any other related field.
- Internship experience in a financial institution will be an added advantage
