KAGRC is currently seeking to fill the position of Administration Officer. This role involves supporting administrative policies, managing facilities, coordinating security and transport, and ensuring a healthy work environment. The officer may also serve as a Personal Assistant to the Managing Director, handling executive support duties such as calendar management, travel arrangements, correspondence, and project oversight. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, computer proficiency, and strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.


The Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre (KAGRC) is a state corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development mandated to produce, preserve, conserve and distribute animal genetic materials.

KAGRC seeks to recruit qualified persons to fill the following positions.

ADMINISTRATION OFFICER, KAGRC GRADE 6 (1)

Ref: KAGRC 6/5/2026(3)

Duties and responsibilities will entail assisting in:

  1. Initiating the development and implementation of administrative policies, procedures, strategies and programs;
  2. Maintaining grounds and buildings of the Centre;
  3. Managing transport services including motor vehicle/cycle insurance, repair, maintenance and inspection;
  4. Coordinating provision of security services and ensure safety of persons, assets and the work-place environment;
  5. Implementing a healthy and conducive work environment; and
  6. Provision of office accommodation, equipment, telephone and office supplies services.

May be deployed as Personal Assistant in the Office of the Managing Director to perform the following duties;

  1. Organizing and maintaining executive calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating appointments to optimize time and priorities
  2. Arranging travel itineraries, accommodations, and transportation for executives, ensuring seamless logistics
  3. Drafting, editing, and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders
  4. Serve as the first point of contact for internal and external communications, filtering requests and prioritizing urgent matters
  5. Overseeing multiple projects, tracking progress toward milestones, and ensuring deadlines are met
  6. Handling sensitive information with a high level of discretion and maintain confidentiality in all matters

Anticipating executive needs, solving problems proactively, and acting as a trusted advisor or gatekeeper to enhance productivity.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:

  1. Bachelors Degree in Public Administration, Sociology, Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
  2. Proficiency in computer applications;

Skills and competencies

  1. Interpersonal relationship skills;
  2. Analytical and problem solving skills;
  3. Report writing skills;
  4. Communication skills;
  5. Technical proficiency (Expertise in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, project management tools and virtual meeting platforms; and
  6. Discretion and Confidentiality.
