Position Title: Volunteer Communications Intern
Location: Hybrid/Remote with occasional physical engagements
Duration: 3–6 Months (Renewable based on performance and organizational needs)
Commitment: Flexible but expected minimum of 20 hours per week
Nature of Position: Volunteer/Unpaid Internship
Reporting To: Communications Officer/Programs Coordinator

FPRJC is seeking a passionate, creative, and committed Volunteer Communications Intern to support the organization's communication, visibility, advocacy, and digital engagement efforts. The internship presents an opportunity for young feminists, creatives, and communication enthusiasts to gain hands-on experience working within a feminist and human rights organization.

OBJECTIVES

The Volunteer Communications Intern will:

  1. Support the visibility and public engagement efforts of FPRJC programs and campaigns
  2. Assist in developing creative and engaging communication materials for digital and print platforms
  3. Strengthen FPRJC's online presence through regular content creation and audience engagement
  4. Support documentation of organizational activities, events, and impact stories
  5. Promote feminist advocacy messages and human rights campaigns through accessible communication approaches
  6. Contribute to brand consistency and organizational storytelling
  7. Build practical communication and advocacy skills within a feminist movement-building environment

SCOPE OF WORKS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Volunteer Communications Intern will support the organization in the following areas:

1. Content Development and Storytelling

  • Draft social media content, captions, blogs, and newsletters
  • Support development of advocacy and awareness campaign materials
  • Write and edit stories, testimonials, human-interest pieces, and impact stories
  • Assist in creating communication content aligned with feminist and human rights values
  • Support development of promotional materials for events, trainings, and campaigns

2. Social Media and Digital Engagement

  • Support management of FPRJC social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Twitter
  • Schedule and publish approved content across digital platforms
  • Monitor audience engagement and respond to messages/comments where appropriate
  • Support growth of online visibility and audience engagement
  • Track social media trends and suggest creative engagement ideas

3. Graphic Design and Creative Support

  • Design simple posters, infographics, flyers, and digital advocacy materials using Canva or related tools
  • Support branding and visual consistency across communication materials
  • Assist in development of presentations and visual campaign materials
  • Support production of multimedia content including short videos and reels

4. Photography, Videography, and Documentation

  • Support documentation of organizational events, trainings, and community activities
  • Organize communication archives including photos, videos, and media content
  • Assist in developing visual storytelling content for campaigns and reports
  • Support editing of short videos and digital stories

5. Media and Public Relations Support

  • Assist in drafting press releases, media briefs, and public statements
  • Support coordination of media engagement activities and campaigns
  • Assist in maintaining media and communication contact lists
  • Support dissemination of advocacy materials and publications

6. Administrative and Team Support

  • Participate in communication planning meetings and brainstorming sessions
  • Support preparation of communication reports and analytics
  • Assist with event coordination and visibility logistics
  • Carry out other communication-related tasks assigned by the supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A diploma or degree (completed or ongoing) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Marketing, Development Studies, Graphic Design, or related fields
  • Strong interest in feminist advocacy, human rights, gender equality, and social justice work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Basic graphic design skills using Canva or related tools
  • Knowledge of social media management and digital communication platforms
  • Creativity, initiative, and willingness to learn
  • Basic photography and videography skills are an added advantage
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Respect for diversity, confidentiality, and survivor-centred approaches
