About the Role

Responsible for analysing and settling all legal matters relating to third party claims lodged with CIC and pursue recoveries with respect to material damages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review pleadings, legal opinions and status reports prepared by external advocates and action as appropriate.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions for review/ advice by management.
  • Engage in negotiations with third party claimants with a view to settling
  • admissible claims out of court.
  • Issue instructions depending on the task to various service providers involved in
  • the claims process such as advocates, investigators amongst others.
  • Respond to demand letters from third party advocates and/or claimants;
  • Initiate and ensure timely processing of legal claims payments (judgements, fee
  • notes and discharge vouchers).
  • Maintain and update reserves for all files.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential Knowledge/Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or in a related field
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law required
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
  • Progress in ACII, Diploma in Insurance (is an added advantage)
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
