BUSINESS MANAGEMENT TRAINEE (BMT) - FACILITY & HOTEL MANAGEMENT
Reports to: Facilities Manager/Hotel General Manager
Function: Facilities & Hospitality Operations
PROGRAMME PURPOSE
The Business Management Trainee (Facility & Hotel Management) Programme is a structured graduate development programme designed to develop high-potential finance professionals into future business leaders. Through rotational assignments, hands-on operational exposure, and mentorship, trainees will develop the knowledge and practical skills required to manage world-class facilities, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and drive operational efficiency across the Group, typically over a 12 to 24-month period before confirmation into a substantive role. This programme offers an accelerated pathway into permanent supervisory and management positions upon successful completion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Assist in coordinating daily facility operations, including maintenance, cleaning, utilities, security, and building services.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance scheduling to ensure operational continuity.
- Monitor facility performance and report operational issues for timely resolution
- Contribute to maintaining safe, efficient, and well-maintained working environments.
Vendor & Operational Coordination
- Assist in coordinating external contractors and service providers, including cleaning, landscaping, maintenance, and security teams.
- Monitor vendor performance against agreed service standards and contractual requirements.
- Support procurement activities for operational supplies, consumables, and maintenance requirements
- Ensure timely availability of resources required for uninterrupted operations.
Hospitality & Guest Experience
- Support front-office, housekeeping, and food & beverage operations during departmental rotations
- Assist in delivering a seamless guest experience through high service standards
- Monitor guest feedback and support service recovery initiatives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of hospitality operations and customer satisfaction.
Health, Safety & Operational Compliance
- Support implementation of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Assist in conducting facility inspections and identifying operational risks.
- Promote hygiene, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance across all operational areas.
- Support emergency preparedness and incident reporting activities.
Operational Planning & Business Improvement
- Assist in maintaining asset registers, inventory records, and occupancy schedules.
- Prepare operational reports, maintenance logs, and performance dashboards
- Support initiatives focused on energy efficiency, cost optimization, and space utilization
- Participate in continuous improvement projects that enhance operational performance and guest satisfaction
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Facilities Management, Real Estate, or a related discipline (Minimum Second Class Upper Division or equivalent).
- Graduated within the last 1-3 years, strong academic record and evidence of leadership or initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
Awareness of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards is a plus
Technical Skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Basic Facilities Management Systems (FMS) exposure is advantageous, Inventory & Asset Management, Report Preparation & Operational Documentation, Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, Practical hands-on problem-solving and operational awareness
