The National Legal Aid Service (NLAS) is a State Agency established under the Legal Aid Act Cap. 16A, Laws of Kenya.

NLAS is governed by a Board of Directors comprising representatives from both State and non-state actors and a Secretariat headed by a Chief Executive Officer with a mandate to administer a national legal aid scheme that is affordable, accessible, sustainable, credible, appropriate, accountable, transparent and efficient. In this regard, NLAS performs the following functions, amongst others;

1. Provide legal aid services to marginalized, vulnerable, and indigent, persons;
2. Promote legal literacy and legal awareness;
3. Support community legal services by funding justice advisory centres, education, and research; and
4. Promote the use of alternative dispute resolution methods that enhance access to justice.

The Board invites applications from interested and qualified Kenyan Citizens to fill the following positions:

DRIVER II NLAS '11'- FOUR (5) POSTS

Remuneration will be in accordance with NLAS Salary Scale;
Salary Scale: Ksh. 25,067 x 1,754 - 26,821 x 1,755 - 28,576 x 1,755 - 30,331 x 1,755 -32,086 x 1,755 – 33,841 x 1,755 – 35,596 x 1,755 – 37,351 p.m.

Qualifications.

For appointments to this grade, a candidate must have;

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum mean grade D plain or its equivalent;
2. Valid Class BCE Driving License free from any endorsement;
3. Defensive Driving Certificate from a recognized institution;
4. Occupational Trade Test Grade II for drivers;
5. First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;
6. Proficiency in Computer application skills; and
7. At least two (2) years of driving experience;

Duties and Responsibilities.

Duties and responsibility at this level will entail;

1. Driving a motor vehicle as authorized;
2. Carrying out minor mechanical repairs;
3. Safety of passengers and/or goods therein;
4. Maintaining cleanliness of the assigned vehicles;
5. Carrying out routine checks on the vehicles cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure;
6. Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems;
7. Carrying out minor repairs including oiling and greasing;
8. Maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned;
9. Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road;
10. Ensure safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and
11. Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

NOTE: The jobs are on permanent and pensionable terms
