This programme includes a dedicated internship established in memory of Oscar Kangoro, who was a member of the PIDG Board and an alumni of Nairobi University (Lower Kabete Campus) - Bachelor of Commerce (B.COM). Oscar was deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of credit professionals, generously sharing his expertise and passion for mentorship. This internship reflects his legacy by providing aspiring professionals with hands-on experience and guidance in the field.

About the Private Infrastructure Development Group

The Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) is an innovative infrastructure project developer and investor which mobilises private investment in sustainable and inclusive infrastructure in sub-Saharan Africa and south and southeast Asia. This internship presents an excellent opportunity for emerging professionals to gain meaningful exposure to HSES risk management in a high-impact investment environment.

We are looking for one candidate for a 12-weeks placement who will primarily conduct research and data analysis for prospective deals and sectors as part of PIDG's HSES risk management for new and existing investments. The role will also involve data analysis and presentations on thematic sectors including global asbestos management and trends. This will help the PIDG HSES team assess the present and future HSES risks for supported projects, ensuring resources and targeted interventions are deployed as needed. You will gain firsthand experience of how an investor integrates HSES in investment decision making. The role will involve engagement with the HSES team across the different products (EAAIF, InfraCo Africa, InfraCo Asia, GuarantCo and Technical Assistance & Credit Enhancement Facilities) with colleagues based in London, Casablanca, Nairobi and Singapore.

Qualifications and education requirements

Essential:

  • Final year student in any degree Health and safety, environmental science, community development, social science, environmental management, and sustainable development.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while working with ambiguity.
  • Ability to synthesise research information into a desirable output.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
