Career Directions Limited (CDL) are hiring a HR Intern in Nairobi, Kenya for their client rolling out a new Human Resource Information System (HRIS) to strengthen and streamline its HR operations. The HR Intern will play a hands-on role in supporting this implementation, working closely with the HR team and the system developer to ensure a smooth transition, accurate data, and a well-functioning system going forward. Beyond the HRIS project, the Intern will support the day-to-day running of the HR department, including maintaining an up-to-date tracker of employee letters and contract renewals, and assisting with general HR tasks as required. This is a great opportunity for a HR graduate to gain practical, varied exposure to HR operations within a fast-paced organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- HRIS Implementation: Support the rollout of the new HRIS by liaising directly with the developer/vendor to relay requirements, test features, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Assist in preparing, cleaning, and migrating employee data into the new system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality throughout.
- Support user acceptance testing of the HRIS and help train HR staff and employees on its use once live.
- Monitor the system post-launch to help ensure smooth day-to-day functioning, escalating technical issues to the developer where necessary.
- Employee Records & Renewals: Maintain and regularly update a tracker of employee letters, contracts, and renewal dates, flagging upcoming expirations to the HR team in good time.
- Draft and prepare standard HR letters and correspondence (e.g. offer letters, confirmation letters, contract renewals) for review and sign-off.
- General HR Support: Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR department, including filing, record-keeping, and data entry.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities for staff.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the HR department.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized university.
- At least 1 year of experience in an HR role or HR internship.
- Exposure to or experience with HRIS systems is mandatory.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling employee data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Experience in the technology industry is an added advantage.
