Abt Global Central Mechanism are hiring 91 Assistant Storekeepers (REF: AS/001/2026) in Busia (45) and Siaya (46).
With funding from the Unites States (US) Department of State, the Abt Global Central Mechanism supports malaria vector control and HIV/AIDS service delivery in 14 partner countries, with the goal of improving health outcomes for target populations while strengthening the planning, data management, and implementation capacity of host-country governments and local institutions.
The project sustains uninterrupted malaria vector control interventions, including insecticide-treated net (ITN) distribution, indoor residual spraying (IRS), and spatial emanators (SEs), as well as HIV prevention, testing, and treatment services.
Across partner countries, the project identifies opportunities to align and transition vector control data collection to national Health Management Information System (HMIS)/DHIS2 platforms. It also strengthens HIV laboratory referral and quality management systems and supports entomological and insecticide-resistance surveillance, including monitoring for Anopheles stephensi, in priority countries.
In close collaboration with the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP), and the county governments of Busia and Siaya, Abt Global Central Mechanism seeks to recruit professionals in different fields to support in implementation of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) in all the eight sub-counties in Busia County namely; Bunyala, Butula, Matayos, Nambale, Samia, Teso North, Teso Central and Teso South; and all six sub-counties in Siaya county namely; Alego Usonga, Bondo, Gem, Rarieda, Ugenya and Ugunja.

Overall, Purpose:
Under the supervision of Abt Global Central Mechanism Kenya Warehouse Manager, the Assistant storekeeper ensures efficient management of IRS items by receiving, verification, storage, labeling and tracking of IRS commodities delivered to their respective stores from the Central Warehouse. They are responsible for ensuring that all stores’ inventory management tools are updated as necessary and appropriate. To oversee the management, receipt, delivery, and inventory control of items for the Operation Site store. They are responsible for accounting for all IRS commodities in the stores throughout the campaign period.
Specific responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring stock levels and liaising with storekeeper and warehouse team for replenishments through placement of orders, they are responsible for enforcing safety culture in the assigned stores by ensuring all safety procedures followed in regard to storage and handling especially Hazardous materials.
- Conduct stock takes/audits to verify inventory stock levels at the temporary sites and ensure accuracy of stock and report stock discrepancies to site storekeeper and Warehouse manager.
- Responsible for ensuring that the store is secure with measures taken to prevent theft, damage, and unauthorized access to the store.
- To oversee daily operations of the store and maintain inventory system at proper levels.
- To ensure proper storage and identification of all items in the store.
- Making requisitions for IRS items from main site store.
- Ensure all insecticides units are serialized as required before issuance.
- Ensure all insecticide units are scanned when issuing to the TL and that team leaders are recording issuance to the spray operators.
- To inspect commodities received in the Operations site store to verify the quality and quantity of items delivered.
- To keep track of receipts, records, and withdrawals of all IRS related commodities in the operations site store as trained.
- Follow up on supply requests from site store and liaise with the Warehouse Manager and site storekeeper to monitor progress.
- Coordinate with the security guard on tracking the movement of persons in the stores.
- Ensure proper material and equipment storage to avoid damage and ensure rotation of short shelf-life items.
- Ensure proper storage and segregation and accountability of IRS wastes prior to collection.
- Document any incident that occurs in the store and sharing with the IRS coordinator.
- Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor.
Required qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum Certificate in purchasing and supplies Management or any other relevant field.
- At least 6 months’ experience working as a store assistant desired.
- A certificate of good conduct may be required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Good communication skills including spoken and written English and Kiswahili, local languages are an added advantage.
- Additional professional training in procurement and logistics management preferred.
- Membership of a recognized professional body i.e., either CIPS – UK or KISM would be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of U.S. Department of State procurement policies and regulations is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and procurement software.
- Ability to build effective relationships with all clients, peers, and stakeholders.
- Culturally astute, respectful, and tolerant
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented setting.
- Ability to use a smart phone and trouble shoot common problems.

NB: This position involves a worker coming into close contact with insecticides on a daily basis and will therefore require a medical examination including general body examination and pregnancy tests. NB: These positions will be on a short-term contract, not exceeding two (2) months, and/or on a need basis.
