The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) wishes to recruit results-oriented Kenyan citizens to fill 4 vacant positions of Monitoring Officers.

IPOA's main function is to provide for civilian oversight over the work of the Police.

Job Purpose

Responsible for monitoring of policing operations affecting members of the public

Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

An officer at this grade will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

1. Supporting the implementation of policies, strategies, guidelines, plans, standards and procedures pertaining to monitoring while ensuring compliance with relevant laws, rules and regulations;
2. Monitoring police operations affecting members of the public;
3. Collecting and collating data for monitoring reports;
4. Following up on the implementation of recommendations arising from police operations monitored;
5. Conducting studies on trends and patterns of police misconduct;
6. Monitoring the operations of the Internal Affairs Unit of the National Police Service;
7. Implementing capacity building programs on the prevention of police misconduct;
8. Implementing monitoring tools, concepts and controls to suit emerging trends in policing; and
9. Updating records in the division.

Knowledge, Experience and qualifications required

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have the following qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in any of the following disciplines: Law, Public Administration, Public Policy, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Education, Sociology, Political Science, Social Sciences, Military, Security Studies or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
2. Proficiency in Computer Application.
