Vacancy No 04/25: Animal Health Assistant II, CSG 13/ JG ‘G’ – Sixteen (16) Posts.
Permanent and Pensionable:
Salary Scale: Ksh. 5,420x~1,040-26,460~x1,070-27,530~x~1,090-28,620×1,110-29,730×1,120-30,850×1,150-32,000×1,170- 33,170 p.m.
House Allowance | : Kshs. 6,750 p.m. |
Commuter Allowance | : Kshs. 4,000 p.m. |
Leave Allowance | : Kshs. 4,000 (Once yearly) |
Leave Entitlement | : 30 working days per year. |
a). Duties and responsibilities
This is the entry grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced officer.
Duties and responsibilities will entail: –
- carrying out simple treatment of animals;
- participating in disease search and reporting;
- demonstrating on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spaying and dusting;
- carrying out vaccination; and
- undertaking closed castration, de-horning, de-worming, disbudding, docking, debeaking and hoof trimming.
b). Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have; –
- Certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health, Environmental Health, Animal Health and production from a recognized institution;
- Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board; and
- Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
Vacancy No 06/25: Livestock Production Assistant II CSG 13/JG ‘G’ – Seven (7) Posts.
Permanent and Pensionable:
Salary Scale: Ksh. 25,420x 1,040-26,460 x1,070 – 27,530 x 1,090 – 28,620×1,110-29,730×1,120-30,850×1,150-32,000×1,170- 33,170 p.m.
House Allowance | : Kshs. 6,750 p.m. |
Commuter Allowance | : Kshs. 4,000 p.m. |
Leave Allowance | : Kshs. 4,000 (Once yearly) |
Leave Entitlement | : 30 working days per year. |
a). Duties and responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Duties and responsibilities will entail:
- collecting livestock data and information;
- accompanying extension teams during firm visits and farmer training;
- participating in field days and agricultural shows to disseminate livestock production technologies; and
- carrying out practical demonstrations on livestock production technologies and techniques.
b). Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have; –
- Certificate in any of the following disciplines: – Animal Health and Production, Dairy Technology, Animal Science, Apiculture or Range Management from a recognized institution; and
- Certificate in Computer applications from a recognized institution
Vacancy No 08/25: Animal Husbandry Assistant III CSG 16/ JG ‘D’ – Twenty-One (21) Posts.
Permanent and Pensionable:
Salary Scale: Ksh. 8,250×510-18,760×580-19,340×580-19,920~x 640 – 20,560 x 680-21,240 x 700 21,940 x780 -22,720 p.m.
House Allowance | : Kshs. 4,125 p.m. |
Commuter Allowance | : Kshs. 3,000 p.m. |
Leave Allowance | : Kshs. 3,000 (Once yearly) |
Leave Entitlement | : 30 working days per year. |
a). Duties and responsibilities
This is the entry grade into the Scheme of Animal Husbandry Assistant. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of more experienced officers.
Duties and responsibilities will entail;
- Grazing, feeding and herding animals,
- identifying and reporting sick animals and animals on heat,
- maintaining cleanliness and disinfecting the livestock structures,
- maintaining animal fodder/garden,
- milking dairy animals,
- restraining animals during milking,
- docking, bleeding and other livestock routine management,
- reporting animal status.
b). Requirements
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have; –
- A form four certificate grade D
- First Aid skills lasting not less than (1) week from a recognized institution
- Proficiency in computer application
- Should be physically fit
