Laboratory Technician

Vacancy No 03/25: Laboratory Technician III CSG 13/JG G Ten (10) Posts

Permanent and Pensionable:
Salary Scale: Ksh 25,420x~1,040-26,460~x1,070-27,530~x~1,090-28,620×1,110-29,730×1,120-30,850×1,150-32,000×1,170-33,170 p.m.

a) Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of a more senior and experienced officer.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

• cleaning and sterilizing laboratory glass ware, surfaces and equipment;
• preparing media, stains and dyes;
• collecting, receiving, recording packaging, dispatching, analyzing and
• preserving test samples and disposing laboratory waste.

b) Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

1. Certificate in any of the following fields; Laboratory Science, Laboratory Technology or medical laboratory technology from a recognised institution, OR
   Occupational/Proficiency Test Certificate Grade III/II/I in Civil Engineering for Geological Laboratories from a recognised institution; and
2. Certificate in Computer applications skills from a recognised institution.
