About JHUB Africa
JHUB Africa www.jhubafrica.com , is a Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) hosted at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), dedicated to fostering creative solutions, entrepreneurship, and impact-driven research. The Hub provides a collaborative space where students, researchers, industry leaders, and innovators converge to transform ideas into scalable startups and impactful realities, addressing Africa’s pressing challenges in areas like AI, health, agriculture, climate, and governance.

Internship Objectives & Expected Learning Outcomes
Objectives:
- Provide hands-on experience in innovation processes, project delivery, and hub operations, aligned with the Innovation Pathway stages such as prototype development and market validation.
- Build technical, business, and soft skills relevant to entrepreneurship, including design thinking, lean startup methodology, and agile project management.
- Deliver tangible outputs advancing JHUB Africa projects or operations, contributing to the hub’s ecosystem of idea transformation.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
- Contribution to at least one project deliverable (prototype, brief, communications asset, or operational improvement).
- Demonstrated growth in professional skills: project planning, communication, teamwork, and time management, supported by personalized learning paths.
- Completion of at least two blog posts and certifications from training/workshops during the internship.
- Personal development plan with measurable progress in 2–3 competency areas, informed by skills assessments.
Internship Categories
- May–August (June – September) Innovation Track (Lab-Based):
- Work in groups on innovations at JHUB Africa, incorporating Pathway elements like prototype development and market validation.
- Monday–Thursday, 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM; 18 hours/week minimum.
- Hub Operations Track (Rolling Intake, Hub-Based):
- Support innovation projects, communications, events, administration, with opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and mentorship.
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; 40 hours/week minimum.
Internship Admission & Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility:
- Alignment with JHUB Africa’s mission, values, and priority areas (e.g., AI, health, agriculture, climate, governance).
- Commitment beyond course requirements.
- Relevant skills for assigned tasks, including potential for innovation and feasibility.
- Ability to work collaboratively in teams.
