KenGen Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme is inviting applications from enthusiastic and motivated graduates to join our internship program as Intern Investment. This program is designed to provide hands-on work experience, enhance practical skills and develop key employability competencies in a professional environment.

The internship position supports the Procurement function by assisting the Procurement Officer with procurement processes, maintaining accurate procurement records, following up on supplier deliveries and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keeping up to date with macro-economic trends, market developments as well as monitoring corporate actions of listed companies.
  • Forecasts near term and long-term macroeconomic indicators such as GDP, inflation and interest rates.
  • Researches, analyses and provides relevant information through written reports for decision making.
  • Analyze investment attractiveness of the Scheme's existing and new listed equities, unlisted equities, offshore, private equity, alternative assets and fixed income instruments to the departmental head.
  • Maintain accurate investment records, databases and files.
  • Assist in monitoring investment performance and preparing periodic reports
  • Support compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Update the research database on a regular basis.
  • Any other duties assigned.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Basic understanding of investment concepts, financial markets and asset classes.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and conduct simple financial and market research.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn, adaptability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial science, Economics, Statistics or a related field.
  • Currently pursuing an investments professional course such as CIFA or CFA will be an added advantage.
  • Relevant practical exposure to the investment or pension industry through an industrial attachment or internship.
  • Knowledge and willingness to broaden skills in financial modeling and investment analysis.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work under guidance and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
