KenTrade is hiring an Entry-level Infrastructure Engineer in Nairobi.
The Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade) is a State Corporation under The National Treasury estab-lished under the National Electronic Single Window System Act No. 25 of 2022 with a mandate to establish and manage the Kenya National Electronic Single Window System (KNESWS) and facilitate trade.
To fulfil our mandate, we wish to engage suitable qualified candidates on permanent and pensionable terms who also meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Kenya Constitution of Kenya for the following positions:
INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER (1 POST) – KTNA 7
Reports to: Assistant Manager IT, Infrastructure & Service Management
Duty Station: Nairobi
Purpose of the job
The main purpose is to support the implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and securing of the organization’s ICT infrastructure, ensuring the availability, reliability, and optimal performance of Power systems, Data centers, networks, servers, cloud services, and related systems while supporting business operations and digital transformation initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
1) Design, set up and configure complex switching environments, wireless networks (that support secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications) and Firewalls, VPN Concentrators and security appliances for access to vital mission critical applications
2) Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls
3) Maintain the LAN and its associated components (switches, structured cabling, power provisioning, etc.) and both the wired and the wireless network inclusive of performance, security, throughput and upgrades
4) Implement multi-user environments, including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, Ether- Channel
5) Provide technical assistance and support to internal staff, vendors, and partner agencies
6) Develop and implement upgrades by developing, testing, evaluating and installing enhancements
7) Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for implemented networks
8) Ensure that all work and changes to infrastructure components are performed in such a way as to minimize disruptions to existing ICT services
9) Keep track of KenTrade’s infrastructure assets and ensure that the infrastructure and data is kept secure at all times
10) Ensure that technology is used, managed and supported in accordance with KenTrade’s standards, policies and procedures
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience
1) Bachelor’s degree in ICT, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related from a recognized institution
2) Professional Certification – CCNA
3) Knowledge of IT interpret IT infrastructure Design, implementation and support
4) Meets provision of chapter six of the Constitution
