The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), a business membership organization representing over 1000 leading manufacturing and value-added companies in Kenya, is recruiting an Intern - Trade in Nairobi for a 6 Months Contract.
We are seeking a motivated intern to provide support to immigration procedures, AGOA export facilitation, customs and tariff processes, industrial spares exemptions, government liaison, stakeholder engagement, documentation, member service and trade policy work.
Report to: Manager - Trade Policy
Department: Policy and Regulatory Advocacy
Start Date: 1st November 2026
Duties & Responsibilities:
i. AGOA Visa Processing
- Receive, review, and organize AGOA visa applications.
- Verify supporting documents to ensure completeness and compliance with application requirements.
- Assist in compiling and preparing applications for submission to the relevant authorities.
- Maintain accurate visa records, application trackers, and filing systems.
- Monitor application progress and support timely follow-up on pending cases.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of applicant information.
ii. Industrial Spares Applications
- Receive and organize Industrial Spares applications.
- Conduct preliminary checks of supporting documents against application requirements.
- Maintain accurate application records and committee documentation.
- Assist in preparing, filing, and archiving approved certificates under supervision.
- Support tracking and reporting of application status and outcomes.
- Ensure proper documentation and record management for audit purposes.
iii. Immigration Document Processing
- Receive and review work permit, special pass, and other immigration-related applications.
- Verify documentation and identify missing or incomplete requirements.
- Coordinate follow-up with applicants to obtain outstanding documents.
- Maintain accurate application trackers, databases, and records.
- Monitor application progress and provide updates to applicants and relevant stakeholders.
- Support communication and correspondence with immigration authorities where required.
iv. Trade Policy Support
- Provide administrative support to the Trade & Policy Unit.
- Assist with research, data collection, and documentation of trade and regulatory policies.
- Support the planning and coordination of meetings, stakeholder engagements, and policy-related activities.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and presentations as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration degree from a recognized institution.
- Prior internship or attachment experience in a corporate environment is an added advantage.
