About Company
The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy seeks to hire eighteen Public Communication Officers II. This entry-level role involves supporting corporate relations, creating content for websites and educational materials, and monitoring media. You will also help prepare press materials, manage public relations records, and assist with event organization. If you hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree and are eager to develop your communication skills, submit your application to join the Ministry’s State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications team.
PUBLIC COMMUNICATION OFFICER II – EIGHTEEN (18) POSTS – V/NO. 121/2026
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 36,200 p.m – Ksh 47,900 p.m. (CSG 11)
House Allowance: Ksh 5,800 p.m. – Ksh 10,000 p.m.
Commuter Allowance: Ksh 4,000 p.m.
Leave allowance: As provided in the Civil Service
Annual Leave: 30 working days per financial year
Medical Cover: As provided by the government
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Qualification Requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
a Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Mass Communication, Public Relations, Communication Studies or Media Studies/Science from a university recognised in Kenya;
OR
a Bachelors Degree in Social Science with a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Communication Studies or Media Studies/Science from a university recognized in Kenya.
Note: Possession of the following will be an added advantage:
(i) Excellent oral and written communication skills;
(ii) Multimedia communication skills;
(iii) An understanding of Artificial Intelligence;
(iv) Social media management skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
This will be the entry and training grade for this cadre. Duties and responsibilities will include:-
(i) assisting in building corporate relations;
(ii) developing content on topical issues for uploading onto institutional websites, Information Education Communication (IEC) materials and undertaking media monitoring;
(iii) assisting in the preparation of media reviews, briefs, press releases/statements and supplements;
(iv) maintaining public relations records and documents; and
(v) participating in event organization.
